since no one else has said anything . . .

i'll assume you guys are all so riveted by my tales that you are just awaiting my next installment . . . which i'm ready to give :)

so, i was walking my dog yesterday at like 8am. there is a woman behind me walking what i think is her two dogs. one doesn't have a leash and is straying pretty far, which i think is very rude and unsafe on the owners part . . . until i realize that its not her dog at all! so, i convince the little guy that if i hold my dog, he can come up and sniff her without her trying to attack (in play) him. he does and i snatch his collar as soon as he's close enough. he's got a tag, so i figure it will be a simple matter of calling the number listed and his owners can come get him. of course, i'm in my sunday morning best (as in - not really presentable, not to mention i don't have glasses on so i can't really see that well) plus i don't have my phone to call the number. so, i carry the dog in my apartment - he's practically dolly's black brother so he's easy to carry . . . plus, i've seen him marking bushes all the way up the street, so i don't want to risk him walking through my apartment and marking my couch. i grab a fleece, some glasses and my cell and go back downstairs, this time with both dogs on leashes (mine on her usual leash and the boy on an extra one) call the number and yup - its been disconnected. there is an address on the tag too but i've never heard of the street so i decide to take a walk with the two dogs and see if i can find the owner out looking for his or her dog. no luck - i go wake up edgar and look up the address - its over 3 miles from my apartment! and it crosses a couple of busy streets! so, i'm shocked that he made it all the way here and therefore pretty sure that the owners have probably moved closer to where i am but didn't update the tags. i get edgar up, he falls in love with the new dog and we drive over to the address. there is an eviction sticker on the door, saying the locks will be changed as of 8/17. so, i knock on a couple of neighbor's doors and the one guy that answers tells me that no he doesn't recognize the dog but yes those people moved out about 2 weeks ago. so, i call animal control . . . which, since it doesn't open until noon, means i actually have to call 911 to get a hold of anyone. they take down my info and say they'll contact animal control. animal control calls me back, takes down the same info and about 10 minutes later, a woman in an animal control van pulls up. she takes down the same info as before - doing a double take when i tell her where i found the dog since its so far away (in dog miles) from where i am now. i sign a paper that says the little guy is not my dog and i'm on my way. i clearly do NOT want a second dog, but i feel so bad for this buddy! he's super cute and obviously taken care of, but i have no clue if/when his owners will come looking for him! the only thing that makes me feel ok is since he already seems trained and seems like a pretty good dog, it'll take about 5 minutes for someone to scoop him up for adoption . . .

ok, thats it. that was my one fun story from the weekend . . . :)
