The Kanara Saraswat Association has been on a forward march for the last 97 years when the socio-economic-political transformation has undergone change over the period of time particularly after India’s Independence in 1947. The demographic disbursal of the members of the community, stagnation of population of the Chitrapur Saraswat Community, Inter-community marriages, nuclear families, ageing of community members, interaction amongst the persons are some of the social issues surfacing when we are approaching centenary year and entering next century. The time is ripe to reinvent ourselves and to rejuvenate the culture.
The Management of the Kanara Saraswat Association strived to strengthen the bond amongst the Chitrapur Saraswat Association, preserve heritage, tradition and culture. Some of the subjects brought out clearly in Ex-President, Ex Vice-President Conference held on August 15, 2007 and 2008.
The suggestions and ideas put forth in the interactive session (as detailed in Annexure – I) are interesting as the goals for Centenary Year and next century. The roadmap for KSA is to be evolved and beginning is made by forming Committees for various programmes and for Fund Raising.
Shri Suresh S. Hemmady, ex-President is elected by the Management as Chairman of “Fund Raising Committee”.
We have set an ambitious target of collecting a sum of Rupees Five Crores, over the next three years.
