The City: Nashik is surrounded be enchanting bluish-green range of tiny hills. It has heritage of many ancient historical and religious events that look place centuries ago. It has a great mythological importance as one of the important places referred to in Ramayana. During the Ramayana period, Lakshman cut the nose of Surpanakha at Tapovan and hence the place is known as Nashik.
Climate: Climate of Nashik is similar to that of Pune and is extreme. Coldest month is January with minimum temperature upto 5 degree and maximum temperature of 28 degree. Hottest month is May with minimum temperature of 21 degree and maximum temperature up to 42 degree. Average rainfall is 700 mm.
Pandav Leni (8 Km): these are 24 ancient caves situated on the small hill top. Most of them are very old dwelling caves which were converted around 400 AD into Mahayana or late Buddhist Shrines.
Naroshankar Temple (2 Km): The huge bell in this temple is main attraction, the sound of which is heard five kilo-meters away. The temple has a beautiful carved Portico.
Ramkund (2 Km): The holiest spot in Nashik is Ram-Kund. It is believed that Lord Ram used to bathe here and that the water is holy and purifying. This place is also known for performing last rites.
Sita Gumpha (2 Km): Sita stayed here while in exile before she was abducted by Ravana. The Kitchen-ware used by Sita is preserved and displayed here.
Kalaram Mandir (2 Km): One of the oldest temples in India, built in black stone and dedicated to Shree Ram.
Tapovan (3 Km): Kumbha mela is held here once in twelve years. In ancient times Rishis used this place for meditation.
Mukti Dham (8 Km): This temple was built in 1971. Built in extra white marble tiles, it is renowned for its special archeitecture. All eighteen chapters of Bhagwad Geeta are written on the walls together with ornate idols.
Someshwar (6 Km): Temples of Shiva, Rama and Hanuman are situated here facing river Godavari. Boating facility is available. The place is a good picnic spot.
Gurugangeshwar ved Mandir (2 Km): This temple is totally different from other ancient temples. To build this temple modern architectural system is adopted. Italian marble is used for the temple. The main icon is in the form of veda in this temple.
